Birth Control? Help with stopping pills?

I have been on birth control for almost a year now. I switched from femcon to loestron 24 and i still continue to have breakthrough bleeding. Is it ok to stop the active pills in the middle of the pack? I have only taken a week and already started bleeding... so i want to quit the BC all together. What will happen if i quit today in the middle of a pack?
